    Managerial Competence and Project Success in Wamy Somalia Office in Mogadishu, Somalia

    The purpose of this study was to establish whether there a significant relationship between managerial competency and success of WAMY project, to generate new information from the existing data and to validate the concept. The research took the descriptive, correlational, and ex p0-fact designs, and the reason for this is because it is aimed at describing and comparing the current phenomena so that they can be understood clearly so that the gaps identified can be addressed in order to foster project success. The study used a sample size of 120 respondents. The objectives of this study are; to identify the demographic characteristics of respondents in terms of gender, age, and experience in working with WAMY project; to determine the level of managerial competence in WAMY project Somalia office in Mogadishu, Somalia; to determine the level of project success in WAMY, Somalia office in Mogadishu, Somalia; and to examine the relationship between managerial competence and project success in WAMY Somalia office in Mogadishu, Somalia. Findings indicated that the management competence is very important in the accomplishment of WAMY project in Somalia. And is very well informed of what to do and thus effectively perform them. The study concluded that there is a positive significant relationship between Managerial competence and project success; the study rejected all the null hypotheses stated and confirmed the “system theory” of managerial competence by (Mintzberg 1973). The study recommends that the management needs to do more in management training and so as to foster management competence which is very important in the accomplishment of WAMY project in Somalia, and in project success management competencies need to be effectively emphasized. And also, there is strong significant positive relationship between the extent of managerial competency and the level of project success in WAMY Somalia office in Mogadishu, Somalia.
