    Traimng and employee performance in wardhigley district local government Mogadishu-Somalia

    The purpose of this study was to analyze the relevance of staff training on the performance of local government employees in Wardhigley district, Somalia. The study was guided by three main objectives which included; determining the level of training in terms of accessibility, methods and training environment; to determine the level of performance in terms of commitment, efficiency and quality and; to establish if there is a significant relationship between training and employee performance in the selected local governments in Somalia. A cross sectional quantitative research design was used to undertake the study. A sample of I 74) respondents was selected using Sloven’s formula. Data was analyzed using (SPSS) to alternate correlations and regressions relationships of the variables. The findings revealed that the level of staff training in local governments of Wardhinglcy district is very low according to the mean values generated from the components of trainings which were access to training( average mean =2.0). Methods of training (average mean =2.36) and training environment (average mean (2.30). The findings also revealed that the level of performance was low given the mean values scored by the performance components which included commitment (mean 2.50) efficiency (mean ~2.1 8) and quality (mean =2.22) when employees arc performing their tasks. It was revealed that there is a strong relationship between training and employee performance in local governments. The l1ndings revealed that th~ level o(~ stall training in local governments of Wardhingley district is very low according to the mean values generated from the components of trainings which were access to training( average mean =2.0), methods o I training (average mean =2.36) and training environment (average mean (2.30).
