    Equal employment opportunity and employee performance in Telcom Somalia
    (KIU. College of Economics and Management., 2010-10) Mowlid Adan, Diriye
    In this study, the researcher studied the effects of equal employment opportunity on employee performance in Telcom Somalia in Bakara market. The study was guided by the following objectives; to determine the effect of equal employment opportunity on staffing in telcom Somalia, to determine the effect of equal employment opportunity on career development in telcom Somalia, to determine the effect of equal employment opportunity on employee promotion in Telcom Somalia and to determine the relationship between equal employment opportunity and employee commitment in Telcom Somalia. The study population was 65 of which 56 were selected using random sampling (10 managers and others) with the use of one validated instrument four search questions were answered. Data was analyzed using in descriptive statistics of frequency and percentage and correlation (Pearson Moment). The study revealed that the staffs of Telcom Somalia are 89% male while female are 11%, 40% of the respondents are within the age bracket of 31-40, 45% of the respondents are diploma holders and 67% of the respondents are married. There is a relationship between equal employment opportunity and employee performance as indicated in our study. Also equal employment opportunity has effect on staffing, motivation, career development and employee commitment (r=0~716).
