    Information technology (IT) and improving business performance: (a case study of Movit Company Uganda)

    The study was carried out with an aim of finding out the impact of information technology on improving business performance of Movit Company Wakiso district. The study objectives were to determine the factors that can improve business performance. To define the role of information technology in business and to understand the linkage between Information Technology investment and business performance as well as how to evaluate and realize the business value of IT. Exploratory research design was adopted in carryout the study. Data was collected using various methods like questionnaire and interview guide. The report gives an analysis of the impact of Information Technology on business performance. The findings revealed that information technology has an important role in improving business performance through increased business cooperation and trust, providing customers with quality products and services as well as enabling the firm to implement and enable dynamic strategic planning. It was however discovered that organizations evaluate the business value of information technology in different aspects such as net profits, sales growth and market share, return on investments among others as indicated in this research. The research revealed that companies view the business value of IT as being successful enablement of business objectives and strategies that results in business improvement. It was therefore recommended that companies should adopt and utilize a benefits management methodology to successfully realize the business value of IT and its benefits.
