    Students' discipline as a cause of school dropout among the selected senior secondary schools in Makindye division, Kampala district

    The study particularly assessed the students' discipline as a cause of school dropout among Word Worth, Apas S.S.S, Makindye S.S.S, Makindye Students' Centre S.S.S and St. Mbuga S.S.S as the selected senior secondary schools in Makindye division. The study was guided by the following objectives:- To establish the profile of the respondents To determine the causes of discipline break down among selected secondary schools in Makindye division Kampala district To establish the relationship between discipline and students School Dropout among selected secondary schools in Makindye division, Kampala district. To determine the solutions to minimize School Dropout among selected secondary schools in Makindye division, Kampala district. The research was principally descriptive involving both qualitative and quantitative techniques of data analysis. Simple random sampling techniques was the main techniques used to select respondents for the study, however some respondents were purposively selected and a total of 140 with a sample of 30 respondents participated in this study. The main instruments for data collection were basically questionnaires but also face to face interviews were conducted. Data collected using instruments was analyzed using frequency counts in form of percentages and was later tabulated to determine the relationship between variables. The findings of the research showed that the five Selected Senior Secondary schools Management lacks a comprehensive management strategy to monitor and control the rate of Students' dropout among these schools. The researcher recommends among other things that it is important that for parents, government organs, school management among other authorities review policies procedure, and regulations on how they manage the growing number of school dropout facing their schools and that to keep pace with the dynamic academic environment taking place within these schools.
