    Socio-economic status and domestic violence in Kabale municipality Kabale District Uganda

    The study was based on socio-economic status and domestic violence in Kabale Municipality, Kabale District-Uganda, being guided by the objectives including; identifying forms of domestic violence, establishing economic factors that cause domestic violence, establishing social factors that cause domestic violence, establishing the relationship between socioeconomic status and domestic violence and forging way forward for domestic violence. The study used crosssectional research design alongside quantitative technique and used Simple Random Sampling to select local council leaders, men, women and children. Some of the findings for domestic violence were; physical injury, undermining and being undermined, sexual violence, resources’ inaccessibility, probability of abuse being high in both households of good and bad economic status, accessing programmes that teach about peaceful living, promotion of girl-child education, and mediation programmes to settle disputes. Some of the recommendations of Domestic Violence were; need for further research into matters to do with domestic violence, provision of reports to police, need for guidance and counseling to the affected families and individuals. The conclusion revealed a strong significant relationship between socio-economic status and domestic violence among the people of Kabale Municipality-Western Uganda
