    A critical appraisal of the role of International Criminal Court in prosecuting perpetrators of war crimes in Uganda vis-a-vis Gulu District

    The major purpose of this study was to critically appraise the role of the international criminal court in prosecuting perpetrator of war in Uganda in reference to insurgency that took place in northern Uganda and Gulu District in particular To appraise the above problems the research during the study employed interview and secondary data source from the library books, internet, and journals to resolve this problem. The research finding demonstrate that the international criminal court is a treaty based international court established by Rome Statute to help end the culture of impurity by perpetrators of most serious crimes of international concern. In conclusion, the study establishes challenges which this court faces in executing it's roles particularly in the investigation into Uganda and perceived from the interviews, strong recommendation and cooperation is needed.
