    The influence of educational guidance on academic performance of pupils in Amolatar District: a case of Agikdak Sub-County

    This was purposely designed and conducted to examine the influence of edu.cational guidance on academic performance of learner and the study was carried out in a sampled area of Aputi sub county, Amolatar district in three schools. The study was aimed to find out the influence of environment on academic performance, examine the effect of family background on academic performance, effect of play on academic performance and to access teacher's ability on academic performance. In the study the researcher used parents, teachers, and DEO, pupils and head teachers to obtained information of the study. Simple random sampling and purposive methods were used for the selection of respondents. Instruments used in data collection were questioners, interviews and documentary review Data collected were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative methods were used and the findings were in tables and graphs. The findings includes lack of finances to facilitate guidance and counseling activities, no guidance and counseling room, lack of trained teachers in guidance and counseling, co curricular activates not being implemented in schools. The study therefore reflected that guidance and counseling is necessary to aid academic performance of learners thus reduce high rate of drop out in schools. Y The recommendations were that guidance and counseling be modified in the school curriculum Y Government should train and post teachers to implement guidance and counseling in schools Guidance and counseling teachers be paid salary as guidance and counseling the Parents, community, administrators be sensitized on the value of guidance and counseling
