    Study on the effectiveness of Guidance and Counseling Services in Selected Secondary Schools in Rongo Division, Migori District- Kenya

    The role of guidance and counseling is gaining increasing importance in educational institutions. It is now well recognized that the many problems in schools and colleges point to the serious ineffectiveness of Guidance and counseling services. The present study therefore recognizes that one factor in the provision of Guidance and counseling services is how effective the programmes are. The study will find out the impact on these programmes in selected secondary schools in Rongo Division of Migori District in Kenya. The stud~ will collect data in the form of students responses to questionnaires/ teachers responses to questionnaires and teacher interview responses. In addition to these/ the researcher intends to observe a few counseling sessions and to check cumulative records of the students. Using percentages and tables_, the researcher will carry out descriptive analysis of data. From the study/ the researcher hopes to find out and give useful explanation of what is actually happening in schools concerning the provisions of Guidance and counseling programmes.
