    Gender based violence in families and under development in Juba South Sudan.

    The research on “gender based violence in families and under development in South Sudan” was done in Juba. The research was guided by the objectives of the study. One of the major objectives of the study was to find out the causes of domestic violence in Juba and the study revealed that; mass media, youth gangs, poverty, cycle of abuse, and male dominance. In addition to that, another objective of the researcher was to find out the effects of gender-based violence and the most affected people and the findings revealed that; child school dropout, poor involvement in socio-economic activities, family breakdown, increase in government expenditure and mental health problems were the major effects of gender-based violence in Juba. The researcher further went ahead to find out the possible solutions to reduce gender- based violence and the study revealed that; lifting of the marriage age, provision of employment to married couples, provision of free counseling services, and sensitizing of the public on the dangers of domestic violence were the major ways of reducing domestic violence in Juba. Conclusions and recommendations were then made after analyzing and interpreting data. The researcher concluded that gender-based violence is still affecting many people especially women. The recommendations suggested by the researcher included; the involvement of different stakeholders like the government, NGOs, International Organizations, local councils and community members in the fight against gender-based violence in Juba.
