Abstract
The disserlation gives a historical background of NGOs globally and in Uganda. It then
identifies the regulatory framework of NGOs at the international, regional and local
levels, indicateswhy NGOs need to be regulated. The disserlation then goes on to
evaluate NGO laws and operations of NGOs in Uganda. It highlights the challenges
and problems arising despite the NGO Registration Act being in place, and also
examines the different aspects of NGO law in Uganda, and the gaps therein. The
Dissertation then concludes and recommends on the legal regime of NGOs in Uganda.
