Abstract
The nurnose of this studv was to establish the effects of novertv on learners' academic
verformance of the selected schools in Asef!o Division Homa-Bav District Kenva. To
snecific obiectives of the studv were to investif!ate the relationshin between the effects
mentioned and academic nerformance in Asef!o division. and to investif!ate the role of the
communitv in al!eviatinf! uovertv and i111urovi1w education in Asef!o Division. The
111e1hod, used for data collection were auestionnaires to the staff'memhers of the schools
and learners involved in the studv. The findinf!s were uresented and intemreted in
relation to the studv ohiectives and research auestions. W71ile linkinf! to the existinf!
literature. results included demof!rauhic characteristics. fi·eauencv and uercentaf!e.<i.
Based on the findi1ws. it was observed that novertv affected the academic nerformance of
learners 1ief!ativelv. In chrmter five. develomnent ofsolutions to the nroblem. summarv of
the findinf!s and conc/mions were attemmed. The findinf!s s11f!f!ested recommendations
on areas TJertaininf! to the TJrovision ofschool facilities for learners to learn well.
