Abstract
This study basically introduces the rights of the accused on the grant of bail. Bail is a constitutional right provided under Article 23(6)(a) of the Constitution of the republic. The researcher arrived at findings through desk researching which included reading already available information about the topic, internet, text books, and any other literature available. The study was narrowed to bail rights, procedures and formalities in Uganda with specific reference to local and international statutes. The study further made analysis on the domestic protection of the accused which also brings out the challenges of the law. The researcher made various deductions as to the scope of bail under the existing laws. The research study sought to offer various recommendations that legislators may follow to make sure that the rights of accused persons in Uganda are protected.
