Abstract
The research study was on employee training and performance in organization and the problem was inadequate training of employees in Uganda breweries limited. The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between employee training and performance and the objectives where to identify forms of employee training in organization, to establish the performance measurement tools used in Uganda breweries, to establish the effects of employee training in Uganda breweries limited on performance. The research intended to use descriptive and analytical research design, random sampling technique was used, a sample of 50 respondents was selected and tools of data collection where questionnaires and interviews. The findings indicated that the forms of employee training in Uganda breweries was On-job training, Off-job training, In-service training, Apprenticeship training, Vestibule training and Job rotation. The tools that were used for measuring performance in Uganda breweries include comparative scale approach graphic scale, Behaviorally based scales, Management- by objective (M 8 0), Critical incident techniques, and Checklists and weighted checklists. The effects of employee training in Uganda Breweries include: Improves the job knowledge and skills at all levels of the organization, Leads to improved profitability and more positive attitudes towards profits orientation, Improves the morale of the work place, and Helps employees to identify the goals of their organizations. The recommendations are that Managers need to be critical on the subject of employee training in their organizations. This is because employee training is of significant importance due to the fact that it results into increases efficiency of employees in carrying out their duties. Managers need to appreciate the fact that they have at all times is a priority. In this regard managers need to adopt handy evaluation procedures in a bid to determine the need for training of necessary so as to carry out training. Though training is an important factor, managers need not to forget that training is not the only solution to increase employee performance as regards, this other factors which influence the performance of employees such as remuneration of employees need to be watched out for so as to keep employees eager to work.
