Abstract
The research project topic is an assessment of teacher's motivation on academic performance of primary pupils in Tabaka Zone Nyamarambe Division Gucha South District, Kenya. The research project was divided in five chapters which dealt exclusively in all matters that the researcher believed would be of value to the research project. The objectives of the study were to find out whether the quality of education has changed on inception of free primary education. The challenges faced by teachers on introduction of free primary education and the possible solutions to the challenges. The data was collected from the respondents of the school of the schools. The research tools included questioners, oral interviews. The findings from the research are in confirmation to the stake holders (2002) who provide a tenable suggestion, recruitment, salary, and promotion policies that encourage the selection, training, and rewarding of the most capable administrators and teachers, and in-service training measures that permit their constant refurbishment, can go a long way in improving the quality of education through strengthening teacher morale even where finances are scarce. The government in its endeavor to make free primary education sustainable should make sure that allocation of funds aimed at ensuring sustainable education are well managed. In conclusion the introduction of free primary education is a noble idea in line with the millennium development goal and also the Kenya vision 2030.
