Abstract
The purpose of the study was to investigate the impact of language skills acquired in the
lower primary on academic performance on other subject areas.
The research used a case study to collect data. Each school was as a case study with
unique characteristic and specific boundaries. Data obtained from these centre was
complied and subject to uniform data analysis.
A population was the basis of the study. A study sample of two divisions was obtained
through a stratified random sampling technique. This ensured all divisions in the district
had equal chance of participating and that at least the existing categorization was looked
at.
Data was collected using research tool namely: Questionnaires and interview.
The research came up with two sets of questionnaires for the A.E.O. The researcher
sought permission to carry out the study in the district from the District Education
Officer. (DEO)
Data analysis was done through the use of computer skills and to some extent manual
treatment of the data was required. Data was organized and arranged before actual
analysis so as make it manageable.
