Abstract
The study sought to investigate the effect of risk management on project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction project, Mogadishu-Somalia, with the following Objectives of the study (i) To establish effect of risk documentation on project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction project, Mogadishu-Somalia, (ii). To assess the effect of risk observing and control on project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction project, Mogadishu-Somalia and (iii). To assess the effect of risk monitoring on project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction project, Mogadishu-Somalia. The study was guided by the Prospect Theory is a theory of decision-making under conditions of risk (Tversky & Kahneman, 2013).The study applied a descriptive research design with a population totaling 160 respondents. However from the study population a Solven’s formula was used to determine the sample size of the study which comprised of 114 respondents. The study used both Interview guides and Questionnaires as the main source of data collection instruments. From the study findings on objective one that is the effect of Risk documentation project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction project, Mogadishu-Somalia presented in table 4.3, had an Average mean=2.71 and SD=1.49 which was rated Satisfactory from the likert scale, implying that majority of the respondents agreed or strongly agreed in response to the study questions. On second objective the researcher established that Risk assessment had a significant effect project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction project. This implies that Risk assessment accounts for project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction projects by low contribution. On the third objective Risk Monitoring alone had a very low effect on the project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction project, Mogadishu-Somalia, Somalia. The rest is influenced by other factors other than Risk Monitoring. The R-Squared coefficient denotes a considerably very low amount of influence that Risk Monitoring has on Project success, the Risk Monitoring had no significant effect Project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction projects in Mogadishu, Somalia. From the study findings the research concluded that after testing the first hypothesis the result shows that the adjusted R square of 0.05; this implies that Risk documentation accounts for project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction projects by 5%. This means that the rest of the factors affect the project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction project by 95%. The R Square also implies a low effect of Risk documentation on overall project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction project. From the study findings and conclusion the study recommends that there is need for management of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction project need to understand that a programmes image is based upon a unique experience to provide an acute environment for project success. And that is as it should be. Your existing aims are among the most important assets of the project. In one way or another, this will boost the corporate image and project performance of Mogadishu to Jowhar Road Construction project.
