Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of support supervision on teacher career growth in Ngora District secondary schools, the objectives were to examine the levels of training programs on teacher career growth in secondary schools of Ngora district, to find out the material use on Teacher career growth in secondary schools Ngora District and to examine the financing programs on teacher career growth in secondary schools The study used (Ronnestad & Skovholt, 2003) model of supervision investigating the internal supervision on teacher career growth in secondary schools. The study adopted a survey research design. The target population was 381 respondents in secondary schools; composed of 15 head teachers, 41 deputy head teachers, 30 directors and 280 classroom teachers. The researcher took a sample size of 30% of target population in consideration adequate from researcher duration. Data was collected using questionnaires for teachers and students and interview schedule for principals. Prior to the actual data collection procedures, a piloting study was also conducted in 10% of the target population to test the reliability and validity of the instruments. The research methodology used was mixed methodology Quantitative data was analyzed using Pearson Correlation Coefficient with the help of SPSS computer programme. Qualitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, counts and percentages and presented thematically in line with the objectives. The study found out that financing programs in Ngora secondary schools is moderate as also respondents also did not agree that nature of academic performance depends on teachers’ school motivation. It also found out that the teachers are not evaluated before the school proceeds to the next term which makes teacher career growth questionable in Ngora District secondary schools. also found moderate response that very few students complain about teachers’ performance in the class. The study recommended that important for supervisors to make sure that all schools create clear training programs that will help schools to crate ways for teachers to improve on their career growth, the individual teacher training or upgrading of teachers without clear program to train on do not help teacher in secondary schools more especially Ngora district to improve on their career
