Abstract
The study focused on the head teachers leadership styles and teachers’ performance in secondary schools in Nambale Sub-County Iganga district based on the objectives that included to examine how autocratic leadership style used by head teachers influence teachers performance in Nambale sub-county Iganga district, To find out how the laissezfaire leadership style as used by the head teachers influence teachers performance in Nambale Sub-county Iganga District and also to examine the Democratic leadership style used by the head teacher influence teachers performance in Nambale~ district, Research design comprised of both qualitative design and quantitative design though the research was more of qualitative. In this aspect five broad strategies of qualitative research were employed which included among others, ethnographfes, grounded theory, phenornenological research. The study revealed that, setting and clarification of school goals, vision and mission was done during staff meetings, the heads of schools implemented school’s goals, vision and mission through ensuring that teachers have schemes of works, lesson plans, lesson notes and syllabus. It was concluded that most of the head teachers failed to put up into practice their leadership styles. School heads who applied excessive laissez-faire leadership style and autocratic leadership style were not successful in implementing leadership style. The study therefore recommended that, the head teachers thust clarify their leadership sfyles to teachers twice per every term for good performance
