Abstract
The study was set to assess the impact of influence of teenage pregnancy on academic performance at secondary schools in Kakure sub-county in Kaberamaido district period 2017-2018. It was guided by the number of objectives which were; To establish the relationship between teenage pregnancy and academic performance, to identify the causes of teenage pregnancy and, to establish measures that can be taken to minimize teenage pregnancy.To achieve these objectives the researcher investigated teachers, staff members and students.Questionnaires and interviews which were addressed to the teachers, school authorities helped the researcher to analyze the research findings. The information got from questionnaires was compared to those from interviews and have shown the following; Teenage pregnancy is considered a key factor for girl child drop of out of school, the society and religious leaders should be able to give values to performance in order to achieve its goal. In conclusion the research concluded that teenage pregnancy means “Early Pregnancy at School” to others.
