Abstract
The study sought to find out the recruitment strategies that are used at Kampala University as well as the factors affecting them. The study was guided by three objectives which included the following; to find out how costs involved in recruitment affect recruitment strategies in private universities in Uganda, to find out how organizational culture affects recruitment strategies in private universities in Uganda and to find out how quality of work life affects recruitment strategies in private universities in Uganda. The study employed a correlation research design as it would facilitate collection of data from various categories of people and allow them to state their views and opinions as they are. Data was collected through the use of questionnaires as well as an interview guide. The researcher used both qualitative and quantitative approaches to collect data. Statistical package for social science research (SPSS) was used to analyze data and Pearson correlation statistical method was used to compute the relationship between factors affecting recruitment strategies and human recruitment strategies. From the study the researcher found out that costs involved in recruitment are the major factor that affects recruitment at Kampala University and high costs lead to a better recruitment strategy. However other factors such as organizational culture, quality of work life time and academic qualifications were pointed out by respondents. From the findings, the researcher recommends that Kampala University should keep records of it’s costs involved in recruitment as it was found to be the major factor that affects recruitment strategies and look for a more cost effective way of advertising.
