Abstract
The purpose of the study was to investigate on the recruitment process and the
organizational performance at TANESCO head office Ubungo, Da-es-salaam. Also,
the steps followed during recruitment process, methods used to target the
applicants and the existing relationship between recruitment process and the
performance.
The study used a descriptive case study research design and purposive and
simple random sampling procedure with the sample size of 100 respondents of
the target population of 330 employees of TANESCO head office.
The study found that on the major recruitment sources used was the internal
source, and common method used to target the applicants is advertisement and
employment agency. Also, there was the positive relation between recruitment
process and employees performance where there was high employees
commitment, and quality work performance, as the result of effective recruitment
process.
The internal source through promotion should be carefully handled so as to avoid
low morale to individuals who dislike the work/post assigned to them hence poor
performance. Also, individuals should be assigned to achievable tasks to avoid
task ambiguity, there should be a mental test to applicants before hiring.
