Abstract
The study was to establish the relationship between Beneficiary Participation and
Project Sustainability in Action Aid International Uganda- Masindi Local Rights Program
“, the study intended to determined the; (i) Identify the demographic characteristics of
respondents in terms of gender, age, and experience in project management, (ii)
Establish the level of beneficiary participation in Action Aid-Uganda, Masindi Local rights
programs and (iii) Determine the extent of project sustainability in Action Aid Uganda,
Masindi Local rights programs. Using a descriptive survey design, data were collected
from a sample of 145 respondent’s specifically right holders, Masindi Local Rights
Program partners and local council officials using standardized questionnaires as main
data collection instrument. The respondents were selected by using purposive sampling,
simple random sampling and stratified random sampling. Data were analyzed at
uni-variate level using frequency counts, percentage and means using Pearson’s linear
Correlation Coefficient at 0.05 levels of significant. The study revealed high level of
project sustainability realized due to beneficiary participation in Action Aid international
Masindi Local rights program and high levels of beneficiary participation among right
holders with certificates. From the findings, there is a significant positive relationship
between Beneficiary participation and Project sustainability.
