Abstract
The study is on employee motivational and their performance in the telecommunication sector of Puntland Somalia. The main objectives of the study were to establish the relationship between, compensation, job design and career development motivational and employee performance in selected telecommunications companies in Puntland Somalia. The study used a cross sectional study design using a quantitative approach on a population of 250 employees consisting of both managers and employees of four telecommunication companies in Bosaso town Puntland. Primary data was collected using a self administered questionnaire score on four point Likert scale. The data collected was processes using SPSS and was presented using graphs, means, standard deviation, correlation and regression analyses as appropriate. The study found an inadequate compensation, job design and career development practices among the telecommunication companies under study. Employee performance was equally low. The study found a significant positive relationship between compensation, job design and career development motivation aspects and employee performance in telecommunication companies in Puntland Somalia. It was concluded that to improve on employee performance in the telecommunications companies there is need to put in place attractive pay and incentives schemes, subject employees to job rotation, job enrichment, training and promotion in the telecommunication companies
