Abstract
The study was conducted in Bulegeni Sub-county which is located 35 Kilometers from the Eastern town of Mbale Uganda. This study was conducted between the months of May and September 2012. The main objective of the study was to find out, the socio- economic factors influencing low access to sanitation facilities at different household level. The study used descriptive research methods to obtain data it included face to face interviews and questionnaires. The research finds will help the community member of Bulegeni and other communities on how best they can improve on their sanitation facilities, great awareness on socio-economic factors limiting access to sanitation facility. The research will also enable future research to increase on the available literature for further studies. According to the findings of 80%of the respondents said that socio-economic factors plays major role in limiting access to sanitation facilities hence negative impacts on their health and livelihoods. They also called for government support to help construct latrines and also provide piped water as part of the initiatives to mitigate the socio-economic factors that influence sanitation accessibility.
