Abstract
The study investigated the relationship between training and performance of employee of selected telecommunication companies in Hargeisa, Somaliland. The study sought to establish and recommend the kind of relationship that should exist between the training and performance of employee of selected companies. The purpose of this study was to establish the relationship between training and performance of employee of selected companies in Hargeisa. The study was guided by four research objectives. The first objective of this study was to determine the respondent profile. The second objective of this study was the level of training of employee. The third objective of this study was the level of performance of employee. And the fourth objective of this study was to establish the relationship between training and performance of employee. The study was conducted through descriptive correlation quantitative design. Data was collected in August 2010, using questionnaire, from 210 selected companies from the accessible population analyzed by using Pearson’s product correlation coefficient, descriptive statistics mean, percentage, frequency and presented in tables. The study established that there is no significant a relationship between Training and performance of employees of selected telecommunication in Hargiesa, Somaliland. And therefore the null hypothesis was accepted, the relationship is not strong according Pearson’s correlations. The study concludes that there is no significant relationship between training and performance. From the findings of the study, the researcher recommends that telecommunication companies should not stop offering training to their employee, but before they offers any training they needs to first identify the training needs of their employees before the training programs are organized.
