Abstract
The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of income tax on socio-economic welfare of employees in Kole town council Kole district. This was meant determine the effect of income tax on economic welfare of employees. To ascertain the effect of income tax on employee’s social welfare, also to examine the level of welfare of employees and establish the relationship between income tax and employee’s welfare. The study focused on welfare as the dependent variable and income tax as the independent variable. The researcher looked at how welfare changes as income tax also changed that is, the magnitude of change in welfare as income tax increases or decreases. Samples of government employees mainly primary and secondary school teachers and other civil servants of Kole district were the respondents of the study. The study involved both qualitative and quantitative research design in that the findings were examined after data analysis to establish the distribution of variables in the study. The questionnaires and review of existing records was applied to collect qualitative data while interview guide used to collect quantitative data.
