Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the relationship between supply chain management practices and operational performance of Manufacturing industries in Uganda. The objectives of the study were; to establish the impact of transportation management on Cost reduction, to find out the impact of warehousing on customer satisfaction and to establish the relationship between Supply chain Management and operational performance. The research design adopted a descriptive survey involving both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The population of the study consisted of58 employees of Rene Industries Ltd. The questionnaire formed the main data collection instrument. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and a regression model to establish the relationship between variables. The study found that Rene Manufacturing Industries adopted supply chain management practices to a great extent which has improved on operational performance. improved decision making enhanced overall cost reduction and real time delis cry of goods and services. The study therefore recommends that Rene Industries Ltd puts in place measures that will ease adoption of supply chain management practices to improve their operational performance. The study therefore concludes that there are variations among the level of implementation of the practices. Hence the extent of implementation is concluded to base largely on the desired outcomes or the managements’ preferences. The findings of this studs and application thereof are however limited to Rene Industries in the manufacturing sector in Uganda only, further research is therefore recommended that Rene industries Limited (RIL) to implement supply chain management practices to enhance their operation.
