Abstract
This research report was set out to investigate the relationship between HIV/AIDs and alcoholism among the youth in lira district. The study employed time series survey data since the examined data was for a short time, i.e. on quarterly basis. (2014-2018). Its objectives were; to determine the prevalence rate of HIV/AIDs, to establish the causes of HIV/A1Ds in lira district, to show the relationship between alcoholism and HIV/A1Ds in lira district. The hypothesis of the study was there is a significant relationship between alcoholism and the prevalence of HIV/AIDs among the youth in lira district. A time series analysis such as Correlation analysis, regression analysis mechanisms were used. The trend of HIV and alcoholism rate showed a general increase. Using the correlation, regression approach, there was a weak negative correlation between AIDs infections and alcoholism. (r=-0.25 1), there was a relationship between HIV/AIDs and alcoholism at 0.05 level of significance). In conclusion therefore both HIV and alcoholism has general increase and prevalence rate has shown by the time series trend; there is a relationship between alcoholism and HIV/AIDs.
