Abstract
The study aimed at examining the impact of employment on household standards of living in Soroti District. The objectives of the study were; to identify the level of employment, to find out the household standards of living and to investigate the relationship between the level of employment and household standards of living in Soroti District. The study was both qualitative and quantitative in nature, and it confined itself 50 private households from 2 divisions of the municipality, it also involved the use of questionnaires for data collection and secondary data especially in literature review. The data was analyzed using SPSS where 30 (60.0%) male and 20(40.0%) female respondents participated in the study this implies that there were more male than female respondents, findings also revealed that the sample of households showed that they don’t have high poverty rate meaning their standards of living are moderate and that most of the household members were employed, assured of their retirement benefits, have self-esteem at work and able to look also the study provided recommendations and areas for further research.
