Abstract
The study sought of assessing the relationship between NAADs program and Food security in Ddwaniro Sub county Rakai District, determine the role played by NAADs program on food security and challenges to NAADs program and how to combat the challenges. The study used a descriptive research design and employing both qualitative and quantitative approaches in the searching for the information. The population sample size was 196. The study findings indicated that the major challenges affecting NAADs program and farmers to obtain food security include drought, poor land tenure system, corruption and embezzlement of funds, poor seeds, lack of knowledge on advanced methods of farming, lack of incentives like subsidies and loans, poor infrastructures, poor markets and poor methods of irrigation. It was recommended that to increase on food security, people need to be sensitized and be informed about the best methods of farming, storing food for unforeseen circumstances like famine, proper methods of irrigation like the use of sprinkles and overhead, provision of incentives to farmers. The researcher also recommended that seeds of high quality should be given to farmers like beans and maize, infrastructures like roads should also be constructed, research for markets both internal and external and proper land tenure system in order to increase on agriculture outputs hence which will increase on food security in Uganda.
