Abstract: | Since the use of ADR as a means of resolving disputes arbitration is emerging fast, inexpensive and informal dispute resolution mechanism for all grievances. Arbitration is viewed as a dispute resolution mechanism which may prove particularly effective in matters commercial, employment, land, family, and consumer matters among others. Emphasis on the legislative and institutional and legal framework, the arbitration proceeding and how it is applied internationally using the qualitative method like the books from reputable authors, articles, journals and statutes. This is relatively new and potentially effective redress mechanism is described and evaluated in this study basing on one’s agency’s experience with arbitration, this study focuses on the objectives such as the legislative and institutional framework of arbitration, the procedures involved in the arbitrary proceedings and the challenges and recommendations to improve arbitration as an ADR mechanism. |
