Abstract
The study focused on monitoring and performance of UPE project In Moroto
district ,the study was carried out based on four objectives mainly the
demographic aspects of respondents, the level of monitoring of UPE project in
moroto, the level of performance of UPE project and to establish the
relationship between monitoring and performance of UPE project.
Using a descriptive survey design especially descriptive collation strategy the
study took a sample of 171 respondents, all of whom were teacher, parents, DEOs
and pupils fiom 16 UPE schools in Moroto. The findings of the study were
;that most of the head teacher were male which implies gender imbalance among
the respondents, regarding the level of monitoring of UPE project in Moroto
was very high, the level; of performance of UPE project was rated high however
there is need to increase on remuneration of teacher in order to increase their
commitment as far as sensitizing the community d concerned. The findings also
indicated that there is significant correlation between monitoring and the level of
performance of UPE project. this implies good monitoring highly contribute to
high performance of UPE project in Moroto district and low level of monitoring
reduces it.
