Abstract
The study sought to find out the human rights protection for the internal displaced persons in Hargeisa district of Somaliland, and for that purpose the study’s methodology was based on the descriptive correlation design. The study specifically determined the extent to which the rights of IDP5 are protected, determined the extent to which durable solution to the problem of internal displacement has been achieved and to determine the relationship between protection and a durable solution to the problem of internal displacement. Results of the study indicate that to a somewhat extent IDPs in Hargeisa are not protected, though there are some protections, but it is not equivalent to determine international standard. Results further indicate that to a somewhat great extent, a durable solution to the problem of internal displacement has not been achieved yet, as the rules of the guiding principles outlined, although there are some slight changes. The study found a significant relationship between protection and a durable solution to the problem of internal displacement. The study concludes that greater protection of the rights of internally displaced persons leads to a long sustainable and durable solution to the problem of internal displacement. The study recommends reaching effective durable solutions it must enhance the level of the protection of the IDPs, which comes to create specialized agency aimed for the protection of the internal displacements.
