Abstract
The study sought to examine the relationship between stress management and employee effectiveness in Uganda: a case study of crane bank, wakiso. the study objectives were; to identify the causes of stress among employees at crane bank, wakiso branch, to establish the factors that affect employee effectiveness at crane bank, wakiso branch and to examine the relationship between stress management and employee effectiveness in crane bank, wakiso. A cross sectional survey was used in the course of the study. both qualitative and quantitative data was gathered in order to establish the relationship between the independent and dependent variables, so as to examine the relationship between stress management and employee effectiveness. the study population involved 68 participants where 14 top administrators of crane bank, 16 marketing officers, 15 accounts and finance department officials and bank customers or clients. purposive sampling was also used to select only respondents for the researcher to attain the purpose of the study. data was collected from primary and secondary sources using questionnaires and interviews. after collecting data, the researcher organized well-answered questionnaire, data was edited and sorted for the next stage. the data was presented in tabular form, pie charts and bar graphs with frequencies and percentages. the study findings revealed that the sample constituted of 50 respondents of which 35% were females and the 65% were males. this implies that men were the majority at crane bank, wakiso branch. this indicates the truth of societal beliefs that men are more hardworking than women at the workplace. the study revealed that majority of the respondents fell in the age category 36 - 45 with a 12% representation. age category 46-55 had a total response of 40%, while 26-45 age group was represented by 4% the 20 -25 category had a total representation of 8% while the remaining category was that of the 56+ with a representation of 36%. the study concludes that working in a job just for the money leads to a lack of self-value & lack of fulfillment since most people don’t realize just how stressful this can be and they underestimate the long-term effects it can have on their health. employees at crane bank should embrace self-talk as a way to deal with stress. employees should always talk and share challenges within themselves, and sometimes talk out in loud but usually keep self-talk in their heads this will help to calm down and control stress through turning negative thoughts into positive ones. organizations should ensure good working environment for the employees and ensure that measures to minimize occupational stress are put in place.
