Abstract
The study was carried out to investigate the relationship between supplier sourcing and service delivery in the public sector. It was mainly based on three objectives; To examine the key drivers to supplier sourcing, to examine risks and challenges of supplier sourcing and to establish the relationship between supplier sourcing and service delivery in the public sector. The study relied on primary data and secondary data; primary data was mainly from observations and questionnaires. Secondary data was collected from extensive reviewing of the existing literature and thus drawing inferences for purposes of comparing and contrasting findings. The research was qualitative involving a descriptive research design. The sample size of the target population was 44 driven using Solvein's formula. Time constraints, financial constraints were the major challenges the researcher faced.from the findings the researcher discovered that there exists a positive relationship between supplier sourcing and service delivery in the public sector. Finally basing on the findings the researcher made the following recommendations. Agreements should be signed to ensure that confidentiality of the supplier's information is highly maintained because basing on the findings it was found out that all 50 respondents, agreed that the district was facing a problem of limited access to supplier information. The government should institute bodies mainly to deal with fighting corruption in the public sector because findings showed that out of 50 respondents 44 respondents agreed that supplier sourcing exercise was facing a challenge of corruption within the government. The government should invest in the will to expand the political capacity necessary to implement and enforce the very comprehensive procurement regulation and prepare a proper and comprehensive procurement legal framework so that procurement entities which become reluctant in enforcing requirements such as supplier sourcing can be dealt with. Because it was agreed by 90% of the respondents that many public sector organisations are reluctant to carry out supplier sourcing. The district should carry out massive sensitization of the district officials through workshops and trainings, about supplier sourcing and its importance because in the findings, it was found out that most of the respondents were not sure what supplier sourcing was all about like under establishing the relationship between supplier sourcing and service delivery in the public sector.
