Abstract
The main objective of this study was to analyze the role of immigration laws and policies in enhancing international trade in Uganda. The significance of the study was to give insights into immigration laws and policies foreign investment laws and was intended to help current investors, intending investors' researchers, law makers and the public with the view of identifying the loopholes in the laws, which are deterrent in international trade. Chapter one talks about the roles of Immigration law and policy in the enhancement of international trade in Uganda and how Immigration laws have been exploited to create an environmental for free movement of workers, capital and services in addition how it has greatly facilitated international trade and economic development in Uganda. Chapter two highlights the legal framework governing foreign direct investment in Uganda with particular interest on foreign investment processes from application of license to exemption of investors from import duty and sales tax, first arrival privileges. Chapter three deals exclusively with effects of policies on international trade making a comparative analysis of immigration law and policies of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. In the fourth chapter the researcher examines how International trade has flourished over the years due to the many benefits it has offered to different countries across the globe. International trade is the exchange of services, goods, and capital among various countries and regions, without much hindrance. Lastly Chapter five gives the conclusion and possible recommendations of analysis of immigration laws and policies in the enhancement of international trade in Uganda.
