Abstract
The study was an investigation on the effects of Reward systems and employee job
satisfaction at Bidco Uganda ltd. The specific objectives of this study were to establish
the reasons why reward systems should be managed at Bidco, to find out the influence of
reward systems on employees job satisfaction and to find out how reward systems can be
managed at Bidco Uganda ltd.
The existing literature present issues, concerning rewards, measures of reward systems,
and most authors agree that the dimensions of Reward fundamentally affect employee job
satisfaction even if others dispute the same. The study used cross sectional research by
the use of both qualitative and quantitative methods of research. Cross sectional studies
can be thought of providing a "snapshot'' of the frequency and characteristics of an aspect
in a population at a particular point in time. A cross-sectional study is the simplest variety
of descriptive or observational epidemiology that can be conducted on representative
samples of a population. Descriptive design was used in this study were a total of 350
respondents selected from the study area of Bid co Uganda ltd was used. This size of the
respondents consisted of; 25 administrators, 20 from the health sectors and 305 were
from casual labours using purposive sampling. However, employees were selected at
random. Those who were willing to participate took part in the study and were given
questionnaires to till in while others were interviewed. The results of the study revealed
that motivation is one reason for reward management by 40%, !8% is by commitment of
employees, reduction of conflicts 15%, and 27% by attraction of skill. Reward systems
affect the employee job satisfaction 86% and therefore, the reward system should be
improved. Lastly the study recommended that since Reward systems are related to
employee satisfaction:
The Organizations need to have both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards system at work place
so that it can increase employee satisfactions in Bidco Uganda Ltd. More so. due to the
outcome of the study, the researcher recommended that further research can be clone in
private organisations.
