This study was conducted to establish the correlation amongst skills, motivation and performance of health professionals in government regional referral hospitals in Uganda. This was achieved by specifically looking at: Levels of skills, motivation and performance of health professionals; differences in levels of skills, motivation and performance of health professionals; and the relationship between skills, motivation and performance of health professionals. To address these issues, a field survey of four government regional referral hospitals was conducted with the use of structured questionnaires. Various data analyses procedures were applied: descriptive analyses, Pearson's correlation coefficient, single regression and multiple regression analyses in order to achieve the objectives of the study. Single regression analyses also revealed that both skills and motivation taken independently are very strong predictors of work performance of health professionals in government regional referral hospitals in Uganda. Multiple regression analyses showed very strong evidence that skills significantly predict work performance of health professionals when taken jointly with motivation at a confidence interval of 95%. Results also confirmed that overall; motivation does not predict work performance of health professionals when taken jointly with skills at a 95% confidence interval.en_US
