dc.description.abstractThe study examined the “Role of mass media in fighting corruption in public sector a case study of NTV Uganda” The study was. carried out at NTV Uganda in Namuwongo, Makindye division, Kampala Capital City. The study achieved the following objectives; to establish the role of media in fighting corruption in Uganda, to establish the causes of corruption in Uganda, and to examine the measure to curb corruption in Uganda. The researcher adopted the case study research design and correlation study design which explored the Role of mass media in fighting corruption in Uganda. Data was collected from a sample of 30 respondents in using self-administered questionnaires and was later analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient (r). The findings revealed mass media had a positive and significantly related to fighting corruption in Uganda (P0. 000<O.Ol, r’375) the study concluded that majority of the respondents agreed that there is a significant relationship between mass media and fighting corruption. Additionally, the finding showed that mass media has contributed to its fight against corruption through promoting accountability, transparency, economy, efficiency and effectiveness, rule of law, integrity, probity, independence and objectivity of public officers, democratic participation and equality and inclusiveness. Furthermore, the study looked at the causes of corruption which included poverty, armed conflict, foreign aid syndrome, bureaucracy and poor governance. It was recommended that Uganda should fight corruption through promoting good governance, e government, legal compliance, internal controls and auditing, respect rule of law to ensure zero tolerance to corruption.en_US
