Education inputs and the quality of teaching in schools under the nine years basic education programme in Kamonyi district, Rwanda

| dc.description.abstract | This study was carried out to examine the level of education inputs and the quality of teaching in the 9YBE schools of Kamonyi District, Rwanda. It was guided by the following research questions: What is the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender and class?; What is the level of education inputs in schools under the 9YBE programme in Kamonyi District, Rwanda?; What is the level of the quality of teaching in the schools under the 9YBE programme in Kamonyi District, Rwanda?; and, is there a significant relationship between the level of the education inputs and the level of quality teaching in Schools under the 9YBE programme in Kamonyi District, Rwanda?. A total of 300 respondents participated in the study. The descriptive survey design and the descriptive correlation research design were used. Data were gathered using self-administerd questionnaires. Mean and percentages were used to present and analyze data. It was found out that majority of respondents in the 9YBE schools of Kamonyi were female (563%). Moreover, the level of education inputs in such schools is very low (mean, L54) and the level of the quality of teaching is very low (mean, 1.65)~There is also a significant relationship between the level of education inputs and the level of quality teaching in schools of Kamonyi applying the 9YBE programme (P value,0.000). It was recommended that there should be: a significant increase in number of qualified teachers, provision of on-going trainings for teachers to become more professional, and the increase of the level of the teachers’ motivation. There should also be other sources from which schools can gain more income. | en_US |
