The study was carried out on Monitoring and Evaluation and Project Success in selected NGOs in Gasabo and Kicukiro Districts of Rwanda. The main objective was to find out how Monitoring and Eva!jation is done and to what extent it contributes to project success in selected five NGOs in Gasabo and Kicukiro Districts of Rwanda. It was guided by three specific objectives that is: (i) to explore the level of Monitoring and kyaluation in terms of staff capacity, data management, cost and time; (ii) to examine the level of project success in terms of quality, time and cost; and (iii) to establish the relationship between moniforing and evaluation and project success. The study employed descriptive correlation research design to describe the issues pertaining to monitoring and evaluation and its impact on project success in NGOs selected by this study. The study sample size was 124 derived from the total population of 180 through Slov Se’s formula. Purposive sampling also called judgmental sampling and convenience sampling called also accidental sampling were used to select respondents. Self-administered questionnaires and interview guides were the main tools used to collect primary data from respondents. The reliability and validity of the questionnaires were established using Content Validity Index and pretesting. All ethical considerations were highly valued in this study. Collected data was processed and fed into SPSS for advanced analysis and interpretation. Therefore at 0.05 level of significance, the results of this study indicated that there is significant relationship between Monitoring and Evaluation and Project Success in selected five NGOs at Kicukiro and Gasabo districts. Also the results of this study shows that sig -~ .000 < 0.05, rejects the null hypothesis that there is no relationship between Monitoring and Evaluation and Project Success in selected five NGOs at Kicukiro and Gasabo districts of Rwanda. The study however pointed out the need to improve the extent of Monitoring and Evaluation if the projects are to achieve the intended goals. NGOs workers need to be trained in data analysis using statistical packages for better research process. Finally, project managers and monitors need to use project indicators in assessing the performance of projects in Gasabo and Kicukiro Districts of Rwanda.en_US
