dc.description.abstractThe major objective was to find out the impact of play materials on social interaction among children aged five years. The study was conducted in Kirahu division, Murang’a district-Kenya. The study used both quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection in which questionnaires were formulated for collection of data under the quantitative data collection methods. The first research question sought to find out the types of play materials needed for the performance in early childhood education centers. The study discovered that; Toys, swing slides, tunnels, balls, and containers were the factors given by the respondents. The second research question sought to find out the effects of the absence of play materials in early childhood education centers. The study findings revealed that; Low learning, poor performance, loss of academic interest, idleness, and emotional weakness were the answers given here by the respondents. The third research question sought to find out the advantages of play materials on the performance of early childhood education centers. The answers given by respondents to this researcher question were therefore as follows; Relaxation, motivation, physical strength, academic interest, and boosting of learning were the major impacts noted by respondents here. Conclusions and recommendations were then made after presenting and interpreting the data. Play materials were found to be of great value, with relaxation having 15%, motivation having 30%, physical strength having 20%, academic interest having 15%, and boosting of learning with 20% in the academic performance of pupils in early childhood education centers. Data was analyzed using percentages and ratios.en_US
