| dc.description.abstract | This study explored the influence of home to school communication as a predictor of acquisition of English Language Competencies among Primary learners in kitgum district Uganda emphasizing literacy activities and the development of English as a second language among ethnic Ugandan children in Kitgum and focused specifically on English vocabulary, phonological awareness, letter knowledge, and word reading skills. The study was guided by the following objectives namely; To investigate the effect of home to school reading culture on the acquisition of English language competences in primary schools Kitgum district. To find out the influence of home to school speaking culture on the acquisition of English language competences in primary schools Kitgum district. And To assess the impact of home to school writing culture on the acquisition of English language competences in primary Kitgum district. The study was conducted using a cross-sectional survey design. The researcher used simple random sampling technique to select 48 head teachers, 96 teachers of English language, and 177 pupils, heads of schools and 53 parents in primary schools in Kitgum District. The researcher recommends Kitgum district should provide professional development opportunities to teachers, provide parents with materials and resources that can help them support their child’s English language development such as reading materials, online learning platforms and language learning apps, Organize events that showcase pupils’ English language achievements and should implement regular assessments to track pupils’ progress and share the results with parents as this can help identify areas that need attention. | en_US |
