Abstract
The topic of the research project is "Equal Employment Opportunity Practices and Employee Performance in Selected Commercial Banks." the study sought to establish the perception of employees on the effectiveness of equal employment opportunity practices to employee performance in selected commercial banks. The problem statement deals with the challenge that the commercial banks face to ensure that their employees are keeping with its goals and also ensure that there is excellent employee performance. The objective of the study is to determine the extent to which equal pay can lead to effective job performance in the commercial banks selected in Nyeri town. It is intended to benefit the government, trade unions, employees, pressure groups among others. The research questions was generated directly from research objectives. The study was carried out in Nyeri town central business district. One of the limitations envisaged was hesitancy of the respondents to give information. The study explored historical and empirical literature. During the research, various concepts were examined which were then represented in a conceptual framework. The survey research methodology was used where the target population was selected employees of selected commercial banks in Nyeri town. The instrument for data collection was questionnaire. Collected data was analysed which gave way for discussion and interpretation of the research findings. My major findings was that there is EEO in the selected banks because there is gender balance as is it reflected on the tables and that most employees who worked there had a degree. Out of the findings, various recommendations were made and this included developing of ant-discriminatory practices which should be documented and copies given to each employee. Once each has been given a copy, the employees should be guided through each policy to ensure full understanding of each of them.
