dc.description.abstractOrphans are children who have either one or both parents. They lose their parents through death and are usually caused by accidents, diseases like malaria, aids. The problem affecting orphans worldwide is on the increase due to increase in the number of death. The purpose of this study was to find out the problems faced by orphan in Murinduko zone in Kirinyaga district. The study involved collecting data by use questionnaires. The data was analyzed by use qualitative and quantitative means. Qualitative means involved the development of a simple station including tables while quantitative means involved observation and description. After collection, data was analyzed; edited, coded and interpreted report was written based on research objective and research question with the finding, conclusion and recommendations. Finding showed that most of them stay with their grandparents, their elder sister or brother. They do not go to school due to school uniform exam fee and other social problems even though education system is free. Basing on the problems some recommendation can be put in consideration or in practice in order to reduce on the problem these children are facing. Care given, should provide relief and voluntary wont in providing for the orphans and also they should co-operate and use the resources inevitably and avoid wasting these resources since they are scarce and can’t afford being washed. Counseling aid guiding should be of priority to the orphans since most of them have to deal with the tremor of losing either one or both parents at a very tender age. This learns them confused and destroyed and may affect them for the rest of the lives.en_US
