| dc.description.abstract | The study sought to find out the perspective of Medical Students at Kampala International University–Western Campus (KIU-WC) towards the proposed male contraceptive pill. The study was carried out at Kampala International University–Western Campus (KIU-WC) using a descriptive cross-sectional study design. The respondents included in the research were Medical Students studying at KIU-WC. These were students studying BMS, BNS/DNS, BPH and DCM. Semi-structured questionnaires were used for data collection. The questionnaire contained open and closed ended questions. Data collected from respondents was coded using computer software (SPSS). The study generated data on the perspectives of Medical Students at KIU-WC on the proposed male contraceptive pill prior to its introduction to the market since it would be added to the variety of contraceptives available to the society, and health care providers greatly influence its acceptability. According to the study 64.29% of the respondents were aware of the proposed male pill while rest of the respondents had never heard of it. Only 44.3% would use or recommend its use, 70.0% were afraid of perceived associated side effects. Majority of the respondents knew of the proposed male contraceptive pill. Less than half would recommend its use. | en_US |
