dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of students' performance in chemistry subjects in secondary schools in Kirumba Sub Country-Rakai District, Uganda. Specifically the study determined the attitude of students towards science subject, learning environment, culture, home background, gender, behavior and role models. Three questionnaires were used, one for principles, another for chemistry teachers and the other for students. There was one interview guide for the zonal inspector of schools. The study found out that experience of chemistry teachers and behaviors of subjects had no major influence on the student's performance in chemistry. Students attitudes towards chemistry subjects, culture, learning environment, lack of equipment's, home background, gender and lack of role models greatly affects the student's performance in chemistry subject The study concluded that more principles, inspectors and experienced chemistry teachers are needed so as to raise students' performance in chemistry, learning environment, culture and students' attitude towards chemistry need to be changed positively. | en_US |
