dc.description.abstractThis qualitative and quantitative study set out to establish the factors influencing education of the learners of Mentally retardation in Inclusive educational settings in two selected primary schools Byeya and Kyembogo primary schools located in Kyarusozi sub-county, in Kyenjojo District. The variables measured included; curriculum, instructional strategies, the teachers Knowledge and skills to handle the learners mentally retardation learners in an educational setting. The following objectives guided the study; to find out how regular teachers in identifying pupils with learners mental retardation in inclusive settings; to assess the pedagogical approaches used by teachers in inclusive classrooms? To assess the instruction materials used in inclusive setting to meet the demands of learners with mental retardation. Respondents (teachers) were selected at Byeya and Kyembogo primary schools, random method were used to collect data. Findings showed that the prevalence of pupils in inclusive education was very high according to the twenty one Learners, although the six said that the prevalence was low. The study also Found out that teachers had no knowledge on characteristics of learners with mental retardation (LWMR). This made learning difficult for LWMR in inclusive settings.en_US
