dc.description.abstract | The research report entitled, "The influence of Western culture on the Teaching of African Traditional Music in the Sampled Primary Schools in Alito Sub- county, Kole District" was guided by the following objectives:- • To outline the values of African traditional music to the community. • To establish the influence of the Western culture on the teaching of African traditional music • To outline ways of overcoming the Western influence. The DEO, headteachers, teachers, parents and pupils were the respondents. Data was collected using interview guides and questionnaires presented on tables and analyzed. The mqjor findings were pointed out:- Music presents culture of a people, promotes creative arts. promotes culture from generation to generation, music is a source of entertainment, the music styles, rhythms and instruments are influenced by the Western culture and African musicians should be encouraged and supported as a way of overcoming the Western influence. | en_US |
